82 Year 7 pupils embarked on an exciting trip to and . The event, designed to enrich their understanding of art and theatre, proved to be both educational and entertaining.

The day began with a guided tour of Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, where students learned about the history of the iconic venue and its importance in bringing the works of the Bard to life. For an hour, pupils were captivated by tales of Shakespeare’s time and the inner workings of the Globe.

After the tour, the group took a short walk to the nearby Tate Modern, where they enjoyed a packed lunch before exploring some of the museum’s contemporary art exhibits. Many of the pieces were recommended to the students, giving them insight into modern artistic movements and how they connect to the world of theatre and storytelling.

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the return to the Globe, where the students took their places as “Groundlings” to watch a hilarious production of The Comedy of Errors. Despite a rainy afternoon, the group managed to dodge most of the downpour, with ponchos coming in handy for the first 30 minutes of the performance. The open-air experience was a unique opportunity for the students, allowing them to enjoy the play as audiences would have during Shakespeare’s era.

Both pupils and staff expressed their enthusiasm for the trip, describing it as a fantastic day filled with laughter, learning, and new experiences. The Year 7 students left with a deeper appreciation for theatre, art, and the timeless works of Shakespeare.
